There are a few wallets that stood out of the pack for cool factor, so I’ve given you a bit more info on each of them below to help you make up you mind.
Pocket Knife Money Clip – Mcusta
Now this is a cool wallet…money clip, whatever, it’s cool. Not only will this money clip hold a your money and cards for you, it also flips into an handy pocket knife. So, if you always find yourself in life threatening situations, like dangling from a rope suspended above a pool of sharks this is the money clip for you. Alright, you don’t need to be an action hero to find this knife useful. Really helpful if you’re camping, 4 wheel driving, hiking, or a million other situations.
By the way this isn’t just some cheap knife attached to this money clip. With Japanese manufacturing it’s made by Mcusta. The blade is hand assembled and finished, made with AUS-8 steel. Finally the blade is laser engraved with one of four family crests, Aoi, Fuji, Kikyo, or Tsuru. The blade measures 2” and when closed the entire money clip is 3”.
This is the perfect gift for someone who has everything. But if you want another Money Clip, check out some more here.
Note Sleeve Wallet – Belroy
Belroy is an Australian company dedicated to fighting the bulge. What? No, not weight loss. Belroy have set out to create a range of thin, functional wallets that won’t burst your pocket lining.
Now Belroy makes a lot of cool wallets, but I think that the Note Sleeve Wallet hits the sweet spot. It’s got enough room for the essentials but forces you to be a bit more economical with your card choices, and boy does it look good. The craftsmanship definitely shouts quality made, but it’s the functionality that really makes this wallet shine.
Along with a note sleeve that will fit unfolded bills, and a small inconspicuous coin pocket, you can store your three main cards in a few easy to reach slots. “But wait” you say “I’ve got more than three cards that I need to carry with me”. Ok, I hear you, that’s fine the Note Sleeve can fit up to 11 cards in total. But the best part about this is that they store away in a pull tab slot, which means you don’t need to struggle to fit your fingers in to find the card you want. Finally, if you have a spare sim card they’ve thought of this too with a small sim card pocket.
Oh yeah, it also has a three year warranty! Or check out some of these front pocket wallets.
All Silver – ACM Wallet
Did someone say “Gadget King”, well they can’t be talking about you because you don’t own the ACM Wallet All Silver Wallet.
This wallet is cool because of two main features, RFID protection and how you get your cards. Ok, we’ll get those that in a minute first let’s talk about the rest of it. It’s nice and light, made from synthetic materials and it weighs only 2 ounces. It has a detachable money clip that fit’s onto the back of it and it fits six cards.
But here’s the cool part, firstly those six cards are loaded (yes loaded) into the wallet, you then push the corresonding button and the correct card shoots out. Handy, easy, functional, cool! To make it easy to track which card is where the ACM wallet comes with 18 interchangeable buttons.
Secondly, as I mentioned, this wallet is RFID blocking! What does this mean? Well you know that card you have that you can wave to make a purcahse without even having to enter your pin or sign for. Well it’s also convenient for someone to stand next to you In a lift or walk past on the street and scan your card to steal YOUR money. However, when your card is in this wallet that scan is blocked so that you choose when you make a purchase.
If you’re not interested in RFID blocking you can buy a slightly cheaper ACM without this feature.
If you’re looking for a slim wallet this might not be the one for you, it’s not huge but it’s not tiny either. However, it’s light, you can make it slimmer by dropping off the money clip, and it’s pretty damn cool.
World’s Best Duct Tape Wallet
This wallet is a bit more work than the others but I think that makes it a bit more interesting too and it is definitely unique when you’re finished. This is the DIY wallet, the “World’s Best Duct Tape Wallet”. If you want to you can go down to the drugstore and grab a roll of duct tape and make yourself a duct tape wallet, that’s also pretty cool. “Well if I can make it myself, why buy this?” you ask. There are a couple of reasons.
Firstly the kit is not just duct tape. You’ll also receive metal corners for one wallet, templates for each part and instructions as well as an instructional video (BTW there is enough tape in this kit to make six wallets).
But the coolest part is the printing on the tape. You choose from a variety of different colors and prints options rather than your regular grey duct tape. Each pack has two different rolls of tape. Styles like paisley and white linen for a crisp look, diamond plate and orange linen will probably give you an industrial edge or everyday gingham and saddle leather for some style.
The kit is intended to be used at an intermediate level by someone who can use a pen knife so if you’re buying it for someone else make sure that they are able to do this.
The Upcycled Wallet Dehli Rang – Holstee
Lean mean green machine! The mean part doesn’t really fit but the rest of it is spot on. It’s lean (not too big), green (good for the environment and more) and also not really a machine I suppose.
This wallet is great for vegans, environmentalists, the charitable type or people who just want an awesome wallet with a cool story.
The Upcurved Wallet by Holster is the ultimate recycled wallet, I mean Upcycled wallet. What’s the difference between Upcycled and recycled. Long story shot, recycling extends the longevity of a product by breaking it down and making it into something new. This unfortunately means it can’t go back to being what it used to be and gets one step closer to landfill. Upcycling reuses the product but doesn’t move it along the chain. Anyway, it’s good for the environment.
The Upcyced wallet is made using plastic bags that have been collected on the streets on Dehli, India by bag collectors. This means that every wallet is made unique so literally no one else will have one like it. The wallet is then constructed by impoverished workers who are paid a fair wages with subsidized health care and education for their family. On top of this, 10% of the sales are lent to third world entrepreneurs. Can you feel much better about a wallet?
Well if you haven’t blindly gone to buy one already out of first world guilt let me give you some frosting. The wallet is designed to with two card slots as well as another easy slide access card slot for ID or transport cards. It’s got an area for cash as well.
Oh wait, did I forget to mention that they’ve even made the package you’ll receive it in biodegradable. Yep, this is one nice wallet.
If you like the idea of this wallet but want something that looks a little more formal, why not try the Upcycled Black Wallet.
Choosing a wallet can seem a simple task but sometimes a wallet can be around for a long time. I’ve tried to put together a collection of wallets here that will make you excited to pay your bill. There will be a collection of other lists on this site which I would encourage you to explore.
